ARVLFC Ball 2012

This year’s Anne Rice Vampire Lestat Fan Club Ball was, by all accounts, a terrific affair and we were lucky enough to have an intrepid friend, and guest writer, there.

Swan Queen writes:

The annual Anne Rice Vampire Lestat Fan Club Ball was held on Friday, October 28th at the Generations Hall in New Orleans with approximately 300 people in attendance.

Guests were greeted with a visual feast for the eyes:  skulls, spiders and spider webs, bats, a mural of a full moon and a suspended, upside down “victim” all of which added to the sumptuous surroundings. The decorations however, paled in comparison to the intricate, detailed and highly creative costumes that were seen about the Ball. Many vampires (Lestat and Louis included), spectres, royalty and even a few werewolves were spotted throughout the evening.  The Ball was not only a feast for the eyes but for the ears as well.  The band “Warchild” was the opening act and lead singer Steven Warchild belted out songs such as “Ash” and “Lost”. Next to grace the stage was the returning “Saints of Ruin” where Ruby Ruin sang the popular “Glampyre” and the haunting “Slow Poison”. Last but certainly not least, “Lestat” wrapped up the night with “Arisen” and “Awake and Watching” as well as many others.
This year’s special guest was New York Times bestselling author Sherrilyn Kenyon who penned “Infamous” and “Dance with the Devil”. Vendors this year were White Pavilion Clothiers (http://whitepavilion.com) which carries original handmade clothing with a Renaissance, Steampunk or gothic feel and fangsmith   Maully Grue (http://www.facebook.com/maullygrue) was also on hand creating custom fangs.
This writer was not disappointed in the pre-Halloween festivities at this year’s Ball and gathering from the smiles, dancing and laughter from the other guests; they were far from disappointed as well.

We would like to thank our brave friend Swan Queen for risking her lovely neck in a palace full of vamps and returning this review for RVL. If you couldn’t make it this year now’s the time to start saving those pennies and thinking of attire for the ARVLFC Ball 2013.
